Broadway.com has learned that Mary Stuart Masterson is now set to star in the Roundabout Theatre Company production of Nine. The actress will take on the role of Luisa Contini, wife of central character Guido Contini, which will be played in this production by Antonio Banderas.

Masterson, daughter of Tony Award-winning actress Carlin Glynn and Broadway actor/librettist/director Peter Masterson (who worked together on The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas), is best known for her work in Hollywood. Her film credits include At Close Range, Chances Are, Fried Green Tomatoes, Benny & Joon, Bad Girls, Bed of Roses and Dogtown. Last year, she starred as the title character in the short-lived television series Kate Brasher. Masterson understudied the role of Alice (played by Kate Burton) in the 1982 Broadway production of Alice in Wonderland. Her off-Broadway credits include The Lucky Spot, Lily Dale and Been Taken. As we previously reported, Masterson was once in talks to star in another Roundabout musical revival, Cabaret.

In addition to Banderas and Masterson, the Roundabout mounting of Nine will feature previously reported stars Laura Benanti, Nell Campbell, Jane Krakowski, Chita Rivera and Saundra Santiago. Deidre Goodwin will also apear as The Lady of the Spa. The ensemble includes Linda Mugleston, Elena Shaddow, Kristin Marks, Sara Gettelfinger and Kathy Voytko.

Nine, directed by three-time Tony nominee David Leveaux, is scheduled to begin performances at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on March 11 in preparation for an April 10 opening. Its limited engagement is scheduled to end June 29.
