While there's been many an onstage Nellie Forbush in the almost 60 years since South Pacific first debuted on Broadway, there’s only been one on the silver screen. She was played by Mitzi Gaynor, of course, who scored a Golden Globe back in 1959 for her performance. The luminous Gaynor made her way to the Vivian Beaumont Theatre on October 9 to see Kelli O’Hara and the rest of the cast bring the Rodgers & Hammerstein landmark into the 21st century. After being wowed by the exquisite production, Gaynor was escorted backstage to bless the show’s stars with her presence. Click to see Gaynor meet the stars of the Tony-winning revival of South Pacific!
