On October 14 Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet visited Speed-the-Plow, the first of two starry revivals of his work set for this season (the second, American Buffalo, will kick off previews on October 31) at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. A biting commentary on Hollywood money-grubbing and loyalty, the show is directed by frequent Mamet collaborator and Atlantic Theatre Company Artistic Director Neil Pepe. Mamet and wife Rebecca Pidgeon weren’t the only big names out to support Pepe and his cast—actor Jeff Goldblum, who starred in Plow opposite Kevin Spacey in London, actress Joyce Hiller Piven (mom of show star Jeremy Piven) and screen star Erika Christensen were also there to watch the play’s twists and turns unfold. Afterward, the whole entourage stopped backstage to visit the evening’s starring trio of troupers, Jeremy Piven, Raul Esparza and Elisabeth Moss.
