Will the smash Broadway musical Wicked be hitting the West End? The show is eyeing a late September bow at London's Apollo Victoria, according to Variety.
Wicked center on two girls who meet in the land of Oz long before Dorothy drops in. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of how these two unlikely friends grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch. Based on Gregory Maguire's novel of the same name, the show features a book by Winnie Holzman and a score by Stephen Schwartz.
Wicked has been a big hit on Broadway and on tour. It also currently has a sit-down engagement in Chicago.
The Apollo Victoria is currently home to Saturday Night Fever, which will close on February 18. The venue will then host Movin' Out for a limited engagement from March 28 through July 17.
