Shortly after its launch in 2000, the editors of Broadway.com realized that the Broadway community was missing something: an award from the people. Yes, the people...the actual theater fans that fill the seats, cheer on the stars and keep Broadway alive. So the Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards (then simply called the Audience Awards) were born.
The Audience Choice Awards are different. In addition to traditional categories, they honor favorites of the theater season in unique categories like Favorite Diva Performance, Favorite Funny Performance, Favorite Onstage Pair and Favorite Long-Running Show.
