Jerry Springer Set for August Opening in Broadway's Chicago

Jerry Springer will play Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of Chicago from August 18 through September 6, with days off on August 24 and August 31. Brent Barrett continues in the role of the charming lawyer through August 9 and Jason Patrick Sands appears in the part from August 11 through 16.

Springer appeared in the London production of Chicago through July 11 and has been advertised as Billy in the Philadelphia stop on the national tour from September 15 to September 20. Known throughout the world for hosting The Jerry Springer Show, which formed the basis for Jerry Springer: The Opera, Springer has been a political pundit, lawyer, award-winning newscaster, country recording artist and mayor of Cincinnati. From 2006-2008 he hosted America’s Got Talent and was a contestant on Dancing with Stars. He is a regular speaker at college campuses across the U.S. His autobiography, Ringmaster, was published in 1998.

Dancing with the Stars co-host Samantha Harris is starring as Roxie Hart on Broadway through August 16 and will be replaced on August 17 by Bianca Marroquin. Amra Faye Wright plays Velma Kelly through August 23 and will be replaced by Terra Macleod on August 24. Chicago continues its long run at Broadway’s Ambassador Theatre.
