Patrick Heusinger & Patrick Breen in Next Fall
A hit off-Broadway over the summer, 'Next Fall' is ready to make a splash on the Great White Way.
Geoffrey Nauffts’ Next Fall, which was a hit off-Broadway over the summer, is coming to Broadway. The play, directed by Sheryl Kaller, will begin performances in mid-February at the Helen Hayes Theatre and officially open on March 11.
Next Fall opened to critical acclaim at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre on June 3 and extended three times before closing there on August 8. Described as a witty and provocative urban romance, Next Fall chronicles the five-year relationship of Adam and Luke as they grapple with their respective demons. The play places the current Prop 8 controversy in a human context by examining what it means to “believe” in this day and age, and what it might cost us not to.
The off-Broadway cast featured Patrick Breen (Big River, Celebration/The Room, Fuddy Meers), Maddie Corman (films such as Sunshine Cleaning, My New Gun, Swingers), Sean Dugan (Corpus Christi, BFF, Nerds), Patrick Heusinger (Fiddler on the Roof, TV’s Gossip Girl), Connie Ray (Smoke on the Mountain, TV’s The Torkelsons) and Cotter Smith (An American Daughter, Burn This, The Dying Gaul). No casting has been announced for the Broadway production.
The Helen Hayes' current tenant, The 39 Steps, will close on January 10, 2009.
