Maybe you haven’t heard of “broke-ology,” defined by one of the characters in Nathan Louis Jackson’s new play of the same name as “the science of being broke.” But the play, which opened on October 5 at Lincoln Center Theater’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, is definitely worth knowing about. Broke-ology centers on the King family of Kansas City and the challenges faced by two grown sons as their father’s health deteriorates. Sounds serious, but the play is also a warm and winning comedy, with an excellent cast led by Wendell Pierce of The Wire.
