A starry messenger indeed. Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick has taken his act off-Broadway to head the cast of longtime pal Kenneth Lonergan's newest stage venture, The Starry Messenger. Produced by The New Group, the play follows an astronomy teacher's affair with a younger woman in what is Longergan's first off-Broadway outing since 2001's Lobby Hero. The world premiere production also brings childhood friends Broderick and Lonergan, both stage and screen vets who've yet to partner, together for the first time on a shared production. As an added bonus, The Starry Messenger, now previewing at The Acorn Theater in advance of its November 23 opening, ups its celestial anti with the addition of Academy Award nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno (Maria Full of Grace) as the younger woman to Broderick's married academic.
