Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell, Zoe Kazan & Anthony Mackie
Tickets are now available for the world premiere of Martin McDonagh’s A Behanding in the Spokane. The dark comedy, starring Oscar winner Christopher Walken and directed by John Crowley, begins performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on February 15, with opening night set for March 4.
A Behanding in Spokane takes a man searching for his missing hand (Walken), two con artists out to make a few hundred bucks (Hurt Locker star Anthony Mackie and Zoe Kazan) and an overly curious hotel clerk (Sam Rockwell), and combines them into a hilarious black comedy.
This new play is the first by McDonagh (the Irish author of The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Lieutenant of Inishmore and The Pillowman) to premiere on Broadway. In addition to four Best Play Tony Award nominations, McDonagh won an Academy Award for his short film Six Shooter and was nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay of In Bruges.
The Broadway production will feature set and costume design by Scott Pask and lighting design by Brian MacDevitt.
