Next Fall, the new play about the role of faith in one gay relationship, has had a dream journey to Broadway. What began as a five-week run off-Broadway in the summer 2009 quickly became a three-time extended hit, which propelled the intimate ensemble piece to a Broadway transfer. Then, as the show revamped for the Great White Way, even greater news: Sir Elton John and hubby David Furnish would be stepping in as producers, giving the underdog drama a little marquee boost. On March 10, a day before the show's official opening night at the Helen Hayes Theatre, Sir Elton and a starry lineup of pals threw a faux-opening night bash for the play's cast and creative team (giving them a little taste of what's to come just 24 hours later) at the swank Royalton Hotel.
