Composer Stephen Sondheim will join the starry Broadway cast of A Little Night Music for a signing of the revival cast recording. The signing will take place at the production's home at the Walter Kerr Theatre on April 6 from 2PM to 3:30PM.
With Sondheim, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury at the autograph table, crowds are sure to be big, so the announcement of the signing urges fans to arrive early and warns that "waiting in line does not guarantee the purchase of or signing of the CD." Only one CD per person will be signed, no additional memorabilia will be signed, and the taking of photos is prohibited.
Released by Nonesuch Records and PS Classics, the revival cast album features Zeta-Jones, Lansbury, Alexander Hanson, Aaron Lazar, Erin Davie, Leigh Ann Larkin, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Ramona Mallory, Stephen R. Buntrock, Bradley Dean, Katherine Leigh Doherty, Marissa McGowan, Betsy Morgan, Jayne Paterson, Kevin David Thomas and Keaton Whittaker. The recording was produced by Tommy Krasker.
Based on Ingmar Bergman's film Smiles of a Summer Night, A Little Night Music is set in a weekend country house in late 19th century Sweden, bringing together surprising liaisons, long simmering passions, and a taste of love's endless possibilities. The story centers on the elegant actress Desirée Armfeldt (Zeta-Jones) and the spider's web of sensuality, intrigue, and desire that surrounds her. The Sondheim score features one of the composer's best-known songs, "Send in the Clowns," as well as "Every Day a Little Death," "The Miller's Son," and "A Weekend in the Country."
