Though the new musical The Burnt Part Boys is set in 1962, it tells a story as contemporary as today’s headlines: the heartbreaking legacy of a mine accident in West Virginia and its effects on the family members left behind. A joint production of two off-Broadway companies (Playwrights Horizons and the Vineyard Theatre), the new show opened on May 25 at Playwrights Horizons’ mainstage theater, and the talented young cast and creators celebrated after the performance at West Bank Café.
