Unchain My Heart, the Broadway bound Ray Charles musical which was scheduled to open at the Barrymore Theatre on November 7, has postponed its opening until spring 2011. Producers say the delay is due to "logistical reasons". While a new theater has not been announced, the show will remain at a to be determined Shubert house.
The show stars Brandon Victor Dixon as Ray Charles, Nikki Renee Daniels as Della, Harrison White as Jeff Brown and Tasha Taylor as Margie Hendricks. The cast is expected to stay on board with the show. Directed by Sheldon Epps and featuring a book by Suzan-Lori Parks, Unchain My Heart takes place at Charles' last live recording session and recounts his incredible life story. The show will feature classic Charles songs such as "Georgia on My Mind," "I Got a Woman" and "Hallelujah, I Love Her So."
