Just one year later, the show burst onto Broadway, going on to win a slew of rave reviews and subsequent Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Flash forward to present day, where the show is still going strong at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. On August 1, In the Heights celebrated its 1,000th performance on Broadway—no small feat in a considering the speed with which even successful shows can come and go. The cast, creative team and entire Heights ‘hood appropriately gathered together to raise a glass to their long-running dream come true…and to cross fingers for another 1,000 performances.
