Tony Award nominee Laura Bell Bundy, best known for originating the role of Elle Woods in Broadway’s Legally Blonde, is coming to the small screen with a recurring guest spot on hit CBS series How I Met Your Mother. According to Entertainment Weekly, Bundy will join the cast—which includes fellow Broadway alum Neil Patrick Harris—as a potential love interest for leading man Ted, played by Josh Radnor. The sixth season of How I Met Your Mother premieres September 20.
In addition to Blonde, Bundy’s Broadway credits include Wicked and Hairspray. Off-Broadway, she originated the role of murderous child star Tina Denmark in Ruthless, The Musical! and has been seen regionally in Gypsy, The Sound of Music and the Los Angeles run of Rock of Ages. A Lexington, Kentucky native, Bundy recently moved to Nashville to record and release rising country album Achin’ and Shakin’, featuring the single “Giddy On Up.” Bundy has appeared on TV previously in Cold Case, Veronica Mars, Happy Hour, Modern Men, Strangers with Candy and the recent season finale of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.
