The cast of 'American Idiot'

'American Idiot' will come to a city near you this fall.

American Idiot will take its namesake country by storm when the Green Day rock opera sets out on a national tour beginning in the fall of 2011. No dates or cities have been announced at this time. Open call auditions for the tour will take place in Los Angeles, Toronto, Boston and Chicago this spring.

Featuring a score from the Green Day album of the same name, American Idiot follows three twentysomething friends as they search for meaning in their lives in a post-9/11 society. Directed by Michael Mayer, the musical opened on April 20, 2010 at the St. James Theatre and received three Tony nominations including Best Musical.

American Idiot's Broadway production currently stars John Gallagher Jr. as Johnny, Stark Sands as Tunny, Michael Esper as Will and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong as St. Jimmy.
