The Bristol Old Vic's production of Swallows and Amazons will play a limited West End holiday engagement beginning December 15 at the Vaudeville Theatre. Featuring a book by Helen Edmundson and music by Neil Hannon, the show will run through January 14, 2012. Opening night is set for December 19, directed by Tom Morris. No casting has been announced.
Based on the popular children's book by Arthur Ransome, Swallows and Amazons follows the holiday exploits of the Walker and Blackett children and their sailing dinghies, the Swallow and the Amazon.
Swallows and Amazons first opened at the Bristol Old Vic in December 2010. The production will launch a UK tour following its run at the Vaudeville Theatre. Swallows and Amazons features set design by Robert Innes Hopkins, costume design by Hopkins and Liesel Corp, musical direction by Sam Kenyon, lighting design by James Farncombe and sound design by Jason Barnes.
