Marc Kudisch Weds His Broadway Sweetheart Shannon Lewis

Three-time Tony nominee Marc Kudisch married his longtime girlfriend, Broadway performer Shannon Lewis, on October 24 in Key West, Florida. Kudisch will return to Second Stage’s off-Broadway production of The Blue Flower on October 27, and Lewis is due back to How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on October 28.

"We got married standing over the ocean," Lewis told Broadway.com. "At sunset. We had perfect weather. Our officiant was Aaron Wetcher. He is local and it was a very meaningful and spiritual ceremony. Some Broadway folks [were present], but it was a very small group of family and close friends. Our rehearsal dinner was held at a lovely beachside place among 500 zombies—it's 'fantasy fest' in Key West this week. That wasn't planned, but it was fun. The bride loves her husband but will be keeping her own name. We have had SO MANY well wishes; we feel very loved and are looking forward to our two-day honeymoon before returning to our beloved NYC to jump back into our shows."

Before the wedding, Kudisch thanked his off-Broadway company in a statement: “It was incredibly cool for everyone creatively involved in The Blue Flower and everyone at Second Stage to understand the value of my personal life along with professional life, and contractually allow me these days off for my wedding. It’s a very low-key—get the pun?—affair and we will be well tanned because the weather here is ridiculous. Thank you all for your well wishes.”

The wedding fulfills Kudisch’s vow in a May 2011 interview with Broadway.com in which the actor said of Lewis, “We’re going to get married by the end of the year. That’s our goal—by the end of the year, come hell or high water.”

A three-time Tony nominee for Thoroughly Modern Millie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and 9 to 5, Kudisch has appeared on Broadway in The Apple Tree, Assassins, Bells Are Ringing, Beauty and the Beast and The Scarlet Pimpernel. Lewis’ Broadway credits include The People in the Picture, Curtains, Sweet Charity, Contact and Fosse.
