Estelle Parsons Completes Casting for Nice Work if You Can Get It

Four-time Tony nominee Estelle Parsons joins the complete cast of the new Ira and George Gershwin musical, Nice Work if You Can Get It, alongside previously announced stars Matthew Broderick and Kelli O’Hara. Parsons will play Millicent Winter, the mother of Jimmy (Broderick). Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, the production begins previews March 29 with opening night set for April 24 at Broadway's Imperial Theatre.

In addition to Broderick, O’Hara and Parsons, the cast features Tony winner Judy Kaye (Estonia Dulworth), Tony nominee Michael McGrath (Cookie McGee), Tony nominee Jennifer Laura Thompson (Eileen Evergreen), Chris Sullivan (Duke Mahoney), Robyn Hurder (Jeannie Muldoon), Stanley Wayne Mathis (Chief Berry) and Terry Beaver (Senator Max Evergreen).

The cast of Nice Work if You Can Get It will also include Cameron Adams, Clyde Alves, Kaitlyn Davidson, Jason DePinto, Kimberly Faure, Robert Hartwell, Stephanie Martignetti, Barrett Martin, Michael X. Martin, Vivian Nixon, Adam Perry, Jeffrey Schecter, Jennifer Smith, Joey Sorge, Samantha Sturm and Kristen Beth Williams.

The new musical features iconic hits from George and Ira Gershwin and a book by Joe DiPietro. Nice Work if You Can Get It tells the story of Billie Bendix (O’Hara), a rough-and-tough bootlegger who meets wealthy playboy Jimmy Winter (Matthew Broderick) the weekend he is scheduled to be married. 

Parsons earned Tony nominations for Morning's at Seven, Miss Margarida's Way, And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little and The Seven Descents of Myrtle. She has also appeared on Broadway in Good People, August: Osage County, The Shadow Box, Shimada, The Pirates of Penzance, Ladies at the Alamo and The Norman Conquests. Parsons won an Academy Award for Bonnie and Clyde. Her other film and TV credits include I Never Sang For My Father, All in the Family, Boys on the Side, Roseanne and Empire Falls.

The creative team for Nice Work if You Can Get It includes scenic designer Derek McLane, costume designer Martin Pakledinaz, lighting designer Peter Kaczorowski, sound designer Brian Ronan, music director Tom Murray and music supervisor David Chase.
