Tony winner Tonya Pinkins and the cast of Hurt Village have moved into off-Broadway’s Signature Center, and we’ve got an intense first look at Katori Hall’s newest drama. Set in the Hurt Village housing projects in Memphis, the play centers around 13-year-old aspiring rapper Cookie (Joaquina Kalukango), her mother Crank (Marsha Stephanie Blake) and her grandmother Big Mama (Tonya Pinkins), who are facing eviction. The world premiere production opens officially on February 27 and plays a limited engagement until March 18.
