Tina Howe’s 1983 comedy Painting Churches is a beloved slice-of-WASP-life centering on an aging Boston couple and the artist daughter who has come home to paint their portrait and help them pack up a lifetime of belongings. Off-Broadway’s enterprising Keen Company is reviving the play with a can’t-miss cast of Kathleen Chalfant and John Cunningham as Fanny and Gardner Church and Kate Turnbull as their daughter, Mags. We’ve got your first look at Carl Forsman’s production, which is set to open on March 6 at the Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row.
