West End heavy hitter Ramin Karimloo will cross the pond to headline his own solo show at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New York City on September 13. The current Les Miserables star and Phantom of the Opera alum’s solo album, Ramin, is also set for an April 9 release date by Sony. The solo concert will feature songs from the album, including Karimloo’s own compositions, Bryan Adams and Muse covers, and his rendition of “Music of the Night.”
“I have a huge love for country and bluegrass, I love rock ‘n’ roll, and I love what I’m doing, so it was how to balance all that,” Karimloo says of his new solo material on BBKingBlues.com. “I didn’t want to be just a theater star putting out an album.” The West End headliner lists The Tragically Hip, Johnny Cash and Mumford and Sons as his rock influences.
Karimloo originated the role of the Phantom in the West End production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera sequel Love Never Dies. Karimloo has starred in Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera, both in the West End. He reprised his role as the Phantom in the 25th Anniversary Concert of The Phantom of the Opera at Royal Albert Hall in London. His other theater credits include Pirates of Penzance, Jesus Christ Superstar and Miss Saigon.
