The world premiere of David Auburn’s The Columnist is set for front-page glory, as Manhattan Theatre Club’s star-studded production heads toward its April 25 opening night on the Great White Way. Set in the dizzying political climate of 1960s America, when columnists were kings and Joseph Alsop wore the crown, the play stars two-time Tony Award winner John Lithgow in the title role, Tony nominee Stephen Kunken as journalist David Halberstam, four-time Tony winner Boyd Gaines as Joseph's brother Stewart, Margaret Colin as Susan Alsop, Grace Gummer as Joseph’s daughter Abigail and Brian J. Smith as Andrei. Click on below for a first look at this intense drama, then head to the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre for a first hand look at history in motion.
