F. Murray Abraham will join the cast of TV's Homeland for the Emmy-nominated series' upcoming second season, according to Entertainment Weekly. Abraham will play Dar Adul, a brilliant intelligence operative who has worked around the world for the Special Activities Division of the CIA.
Homeland stars Claire Danes as a CIA agent who belives a U.S. soldier (Damian Lewis), who returned home years after being presumed dead, may now be working for a terrorist organization. The series also stars Tony winner Mandy Patinkin as CIA agent Saul Berenson.
Abraham has appeared on Broadway in Mauritius, Triumph of Love, A Man in the Country, Angels in America, Teibele and her Demon, Legend, The Ritz, Bad Habits and Macbeth. He recently played the title role in off-Broadway's Galileo. He earned an Academy Award for the film adaptation of Amadeus and has appeared in many films including Finding Forrester, Scarface, Muppets from Space, Last Action Hero and The Name of the Rose.
Homeland begins its second season on September 30 on Showtime.
