James Moye and More Join Off-Broadway’s Closer Than Ever

Broadway veterans James Moye, Rita Harvey and Jamie LaVerdiere will join the cast of the acclaimed off-Broadway musical Closer Than Ever on September 25. Moye will step in for current star George Dvorsky from September 25 through October 7. Harvey and LaVerdiere will join the company as understudies. Closer Than Ever runs at St. Peter’s Church through November 25.

Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire’s Closer Than Ever tells the story of love, friendship, security and happiness, and how to hold on to those essentials in a world that pulls us in a hundred directions at once. The York Theatre Company production originally opened June 5, starring George Dvorsky, Sal Viviano, Christiane Noll and Jenn Colella. Closer Than Ever originally opened off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre in 1989.

Moye appeared in the New York productions of Million Dollar Quartet, Ragtime, A Tale of Two Cities, The Full Monty, Urinetown and Dogfight. Harvey’s Broadway credits include Phantom of the Opera and Fiddler on the Roof. LaVerdiere appeared on Broadway in The Producers and The Pirate Queen.

The current cast features Jacquelyn Piro Donovan, Anika Larsen and Sal Viviano.
