A.R. Gurney’s new play Heresy is taking up residence at the Flea Theatre, and we’ve got a first look at this kooky and hilarious parody of the Bible. Set in the near future, Heresy is the story of Mary (Annette O’Toole) and Joseph (Steve Mellor), who make a trip to Homeland Security because their protesting son Chris has been taken into custody. To set him free, the couple must plead their case to Pontius Pilate (Reg E. Cathey). In addition to O’Toole, Mellor and Cathey, Heresy stars Kathy Najimy as Phyllis, Tommy Crawford as Mark, Danny Rivera as Pedro and Ariel Woodiwiss as Lena.
