Alex Felton to Lead British Farce Entertaining Mr. Sloane at Curve Theatre; Piaf Added to Season

Hang on to your knickers! Full casting has been announced for Joe Orton’s dark, sexy farce Entertaining Mr Sloane at the Curve Theatre in Leicester, England. The new production will star Alex Felton as Mr. Sloane, Julia Hills as Kath, Andrew Dunn as Ed and John Griffiths as Kemp. Paul Kerryson is set to direct. The production will begin previews on November 6, with an official opening night on November 6. Entertaining Mr Sloane will play a limited engagement through November 24.

Set in the swinging ‘60s, Entertaining Mr Sloane is the story of a man (Felton) who is looking for a place to live. Middle-aged Kath (Hills) offers herself as his landlady but is also offering something else. Kath’s younger brother Ed (Dunn) is also looking for some action, but unfortunately, their elderly and inquisitive father (Griffiths) is in the way.

Felton’s British theater credits include All’s Well That Ends Well, As You Like It, Pride and Prejudice, The Importance of Being Earnest and The Tempest. Hills has appeared onstage in The Glass Menagerie, The Cherry Orchard, Richard II, Pygmalion and Calendar Girls. Her film and TV credits include Outnumbered, Muder in Suburbi, The Refuge and Who Dares Wins. Best known as Tony on BBC’s Dinnerladies, Dunn’s theater credits include Art and All Of You Mine. Griffiths’ London credits include Volpone, Oliver!, Under Milk Wood and The Sound of Music.

Additionally, the Curve Theatre will present Pam Gems' 1978 play Piaf, based on the life and career of French singer Edith Piaf. Directed by Paul Kerryson, the production will begin performances February 22, with an official opening night on February 27. Piaf will play a limited engagement through March 16. No casting has been announced. Piaf charts the iconic singer's journey from street performer to worldwide fame, and includes some of Piaf's greatest songs, including La Vie en Rose, Mon Dieu and Non, Je Ne Regrette.
