Exclusive! Girls Star Zosia Mamet 'Thrilled' To Make Her Stage Debut in Off-Broadway's Really Really

Zosia Mamet, star of HBO’s hit series Girls and daughter of playwright David Mamet, will make her stage debut in the New York premiere of Paul Downs Colaizzo's play Really Really, the actress told Broadway.com. Directed by David Cromer, the MCC production will run off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre from January 31, 2013 to March 10.

“I’m so excited,” Mamet told Broadway.com of the show. “I just think [the play] is exceptional. The part is something that’s very different than anything I’ve ever played before. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be doing theater.”

Really Really begins in the hazy aftermath of a wild party. Dawn breaks on what appears to be just another day in the undergrad carnival that revolves around a close circle of friends, but when morning-after gossip turns ugly, the veneer of loyalty and friendship is peeled back to reveal a vicious jungle of sexual politics, raw ambition and class warfare.

The play first premiered at D.C.’s Signature Theatre in January in a production directed by Matthew Gardiner. The production starred Evan Casey and Lauren Culpepper. Colaizzo co-wrote the 2012 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards, which were hosted by Darren Criss.

Mamet is best known as uptight college student Shoshanna Shapiro, one of the four stars of HBO’s acclaimed series Girls. Her other TV credits include recurring roles on Mad Men, Unites States of Tara, Parenthood and The Unit. Mamet has appeared in the films The Kids Are All Right, Greenberg and Cherry.
