A stage adaptation of Chaim Potok’s classic and inspiring coming-of-age novel My Name is Asher Lev opened off-Broadway on November 28. This New York premiere stars newcomer Ari Brand as Asher and lauded off-Broadway actors Jenny Bacon and Mark Nelson in a variety of roles, including Asher’s religious parents. Aaron Posner's drama follows the journey of a young art prodigy who must find the balance between his art and his Hasidic roots. The first night crowd included Maggie Grace (headed to Broadway in Picnic) and fashion designer Ralph Lauren, who joined the company to celebrate at ViceVersa Restaurant.
