A new stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations will play the West End's Vaudeville Theatre beginning February 1, 2013. Opening night is scheduled for February 6. The Jo Clifford-adapted production will mark the first time that the popular story has ever played the West End.
Great Expectations’ West End premiere will star Jack Ellis as Jaggers, Chris Ellison as Magwitch and Paula Wilcox as Miss Havisham, as well as Paul Nivison as Adult Pip, Grace Rowe as Estella and Taylor Jay-Davis as young Pip.
Set in the early nineteenth century, Great Expectations tells the coming-of-age story of a poor orphan named Pip who transforms into a high society gentleman thanks to a wealthy, anonymous benefactor.
Graham McLaren directs, with set design by Robin Peoples, costume design by Annie Gosney and Graham McLaren, lighting design by Kai Fischer, original music by Simon Slater and sound by Matt McKenzie.
