Playwright and screenwriter Patrick Marber's new stage adaptation of Arthur Wing Pinero's Trelawny of the Wells will play London's Donmar Warehouse beginning February 15, 2013, with an official opening set for February 26. Directed by Joe Wright (Atonement), the revival is set to open on February 26.
Trelawny of the Wells is the tale of Rose Trelawny, the brightest star in Wells, the theater company that raised her from birth. But she's prepared to give it all up for the love of her stage-door suitor, aristocratic Arthur. His family is less convinced of her charms, however, and her joyful challenge to their dreary, snobby existence shocks them to their core.
The cast of Trelawny of the Wells includes Amy Morgan (Rose Trelawny), Daniel Mays (Ferdinand Gadd), Susannah Fielding (Imogen Parrott), Maggie Steed (Mrs. Telfer/Miss Gower), Jamie Beamish (Mr. Ablett/O’Dwyer), Ron Cook (Sir William Gower), Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Avonia Bunn), Daniel Kaluuya (Tom Wrench), Fergal Mcelherron (Colpoys), Joshua Silver (Arthur Gower) and Peter Wight (Mr. Telfer/Charles).
Marber has strong connections with the theater which premiered his plays After Miss Julie and Don Juan in Soho. His other stage plays include Dealer’s Choice, Closer, Howard Katz and The Musicians. Marber has also written the screenplays for several films including Old Street, Closer, Asylum, Notes on a Scandal and Love You More.
