Broadway hoofer Rachelle Rak is rocking out in the national tour of the new musical Flashdance as Tess, the sassy best friend to aspiring dancer Alex Owens, and audiences are about to get a taste of Rak's life on the road. Broadway.com is teaming up with the actress for an exclusive backstage look at the show with the new video blog I Love Rak ‘N’ Roll: On the Road with Flashdance the Musical.
Flashdance tells the story of a working-class girl from Pittsburgh who, by day works at a steel mill, where she catches the eye of her boss. By night however she works as a “flashdancer” at a local bar, longing to become a student at the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy. The musical features hits from the film’s Grammy-winning soundtrack, including “Flashdance—What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “Gloria” and 10 original songs.
The first episode of I Love Rak ‘N’ Roll will premiere on January 4 with seven additional episodes to follow. Flashdance opens in Pittsburgh on January 3 and continues on to 19 other cities including Baltimore, New Orleans, Seattle and Costa Mesa.
