Claire Foy will play Lady Macbeth opposite James McAvoy’s Scottish antihero in director Jamie Lloyd’s new mounting of Macbeth, the inaugural production for Trafalgar Transformed at Trafalgar Studios in London’s West End. The production will run February 9 through April 27, with opening night slated for February 22.
Foy and McAvoy will be joined by Jamie Ballard (Macduff), Graeme Dalling (Donalbain), Lisa Gardner (Witch), Kevin Guthrie (Lennox), Richard Hansell (Ross), Forbes Masson (Banquo), Allison McKenzie (Witch), Olivia Morgan (Witch), Catherine Murray (Caithness), Callum O’Neill (Angus), Mark Quartley (Malcolm) and Hugh Ross (Duncan/Doctor). The production will feature design by Soutra Gilmour.
Macbeth is widely regarded as one of William Shakespeare’s darkest classics, telling the story of war-torn Scotland and a paranoia-ridden general whose ascension to the throne is riddled with guilt, madness and murder.
Foy’s U.K. theater credits include Ding Dong the Wicked, Love, Love, Love, Baby Girl, DNA and The Miracle. Her extensive television credits include White Heat, Upstairs Downstairs, Little Dorrit and The Promise.
