Tom Hanks to Earn Big Bucks for Broadway Debut Because...Obviously

How much will mega-movie star Tom Hanks make from his upcoming Broadway debut in Nora Ephron’s Lucky Guy? The short answer: a lot.

Bloomberg reports that Hanks will make a minimum of $75,000 per week for his scheduled 15-week run as tabloid columnist Mike McAlary in Ephron’s final play. Hanks will earn 12.5% of the weekly box office, meaning that he stands to rake in a hefty $150,000 should the show sell out.

The two-time Oscar winner joins a list of recent celebs earning big bucks on Broadway, including Glengarry Glen Ross headliner Al Pacino ($125,000 per week, plus 5% stake in profits), A Steady Rain duo Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig ($120,000 per week) and The Producers stars Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick ($100,000 per week).

Hanks also holds a 2% ticket sale stake, so even if the show extends and Hanks departs the company, he’ll still take in some dough. Lucky guy, indeed!
