Jennifer Aniston is kind of, sort of heading to Broadway. The A-lister has signed on to the ensemble cast of She’s Funny That Way, a new comedy by Peter Bogdanovich starring Owen Wilson as a married Broadway director who helps a prostitute/actress advance her career. Variety reports that Aniston’s role in the comedy will be that of a therapist with an alcoholic mother in rehab.
The film, previously titled Squirrel to Nuts, boasts a cast that includes Jason Schwartzman, Eugene Levy, Kathryn Hahn, Brie Larson and Cybill Shepherd. She’s Funny That Way marks director Bogdanovich’s first film since The Cat’s Meow in 2001.
Broadway.com has long clamored for Aniston to head to the New York stage, but so far, the closest the former Rachel Karen Green has gotten to the Great White Way is participating in The 24 Hour Plays. Is this new flick a sign that Aniston is inching closer to Broadway? Hope so!
