Michael Urie is about to clock in for some major Hollywood talent. The How to Succeed alum will star in Rattlestick Playwrights Theater’s world premiere show biz comedy Buyer & Cellar. Penned by Jonathan Tolin, the play begins performances on March 20, with an opening night set for April 3.
Urie stars as a struggling Los Angeles actor named Alex, who finds himself taking an odd job working in the Malibu basement of a Hollywood mega-star. When the A-lister makes a rare appearance one day, the comedy launches into an outrageous look at fame and the price that accompanies it.
Urie wrapped up an acclaimed turn on Broadway in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 2012, and has also appeared off-Broadway in The Cherry Orchard, Angels in America and The Temperamentals. His screen credits include his star-making role as Marc St. James on Ugly Betty and as Louis on the now-defunct CBS sitcom Partners.
Stephen Brackett directs the production, which runs at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater through May 4.
