American Idol Contestant Devin Velez Puts a Spanish Twist on the Dreamgirls Ballad 'Listen'

This week on American Idol, semi-finalist Devin Velez belted out “Listen,” the show-stopping number made famous by Beyoncé in the 2006 movie version of Dreamgirls. The 18-year-old contender put his own spin on the song, switching to singing the lyrics in Spanish halfway through the tune. Commending his bold bilingual choice, the judges unanimously praised the performance and allowed him to move forward in the competition.
