'The Madrid' receives its final off-Broadway extension through May 5.
Manhattan Theatre Club's The Madrid has extended for a second and final time off-Broadway. The play will now run through May 5 at New York City Center – Stage I. Written by Liz Flahive and directed by Leigh Silverman, the MTC production stars Emmy winner and Tony nominee Edie Falco.

In addition to Falco, The Madrid stars Frances Sternhagen, Phoebe Strole, John Ellison Conlee, Darren Goldstein, Heidi Schreck, Brooke Ashley Laine and Seth Clayton. Falco stars as Martha, a kindergarten teacher with a life many would desire, complete with a loving husband (Conlee) and devoted daughter, Sarah (Strole). When Martha decides to leave it all behind, it’s up to her daughter to pick up the pieces. The comedic drama is a story about motherhood, freedom and trying to see the people in your family as they really are.

The creative team for The Madrid includes scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Emily Rebholtz, lighting designer Jeff Croiter and sound designer Jill BC Du Boff. The production features original music by Tom Kitt. The Madrid was originally set to close on April 14 before initially extending through April 21.
