What a Mensch! Orphans' Alec Baldwin Signs on as Executive Producer of Elaine Stritch Doc Shoot Me

Orphans star Alec Baldwin has signed on to executive produce Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me, the new documentary about the Tony and Emmy-winning Broadway legend who played his belligerent mother on the NBC comedy 30 Rock, according to Deadline. Baldwin signed on after seeing the film's crowd-sourced indiegogo financing campaign.

The Twitter handle for the upcoming doc, @ESShootMeMovie, tweeted: "The brilliant @ABFalecbaldwin has offically signed on as Executive Producer of 'Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me.' Elaine is THRILLED. What a mensch." Shoot Me features interviews with plenty of famous show biz folk who've worked with Stritch and rare archival footage from her corner room at the Café Carlyle. The doc gives fans an intimate take on her thoughts on aging, her struggle with alcohol and diabetes and her fear of leaving the spotlight behind.

Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me, directed by Chiemi Karasawa, will have its world premiere at New York's Tribeca Film Festival later this month. Stritch recently completed her final run of cabaret concerts at the Café Carlyle. She is planning on moving back to her home state of Michigan. Baldwin is currently starring in the Broadway premiere of Lyle Kessler's Orphans, which opens at the Schoenfeld Theatre on April 18.
