Tickets are now on sale for the Barrow Street Theatre engagement of Buyer & Cellar, starring Broadway alum Michael Urie, which premiered in April at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. The comedy ends its extended run at Rattlestick on May 12, and following a brief hiatus, Buyer & Cellar will begin performances June 18 for a ten-week engagement at Barrow Street.
The Jonathan Tolin-penned play tells the story of Alex More (Urie), a struggling Los Angeles actor who finds himself taking an odd job working in the Malibu basement of a Hollywood mega-star. When the A-lister makes a rare appearance one day, the comedy launches into an outrageous look at fame and the price that accompanies it.
Directed by Stephen Brackett, Buyer & Cellar features set design by Andrew Boyce, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Eric Southern and sound design is by Stowe Nelson.
