Joey deBettencourt, John Sanders and Megan Stern Will Lead Peter and the Starcatcher National Tour

The captain’s got a whole new crew. The national tour of Peter and the Starcatcher will star Joey deBettencourt as Boy, John Sanders as Black Stache and Megan Stern as Molly. The tour of the Tony Award-nominated play by Rick Elice is set to play over 20 cities during the 2013-2014 season, including Houston, San Antonio, Tempe and St. Louis.

DeBettencourt hails from Chicago where he appeared in South of Settling, Punk Rock, Flare Path and Cherrywood. Sanders returns to Starcatcher, having appeared in the original Broadway cast. His other stage credits include Matilda on Broadway and the national tour of Mamma Mia! Stern’s stage credits include Be the Death of Me, Raptured and The Material World.

The cast also features Harter Clingman as Alf, Jimonn Cole as Slank, Nathan Hosner as Lord Aster, Carl Howell as Prentiss, Ian Michael Stuart as Captain Scott, Benjamin Schrader as Mrs. Bumbrake, Luke Smith as Smee, Edward Tournier as Ted and Lee Zarrett as Fighting Prawn. The ensemble includes Ben Beckley, Robert Franklin Neill, Rachel Prather and Nick Vidal.

Adapted by Elice from the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, Peter and the Starcatcher features a company of 12 actors portraying some 50 characters, all on a journey to answer the question: How did Peter Pan become The Boy Who Refused To Grow Up?

The production is directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, who received Tony nominations for their work. The creative team also includes Paloma Young (costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design), Darron L West (sound design), who all won Tonys for their work on the show, along with Steven Hoggett (movement), Wayne Barker (music), Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum (fight direction) and Marco Paguia (music supervision).

Peter and the Starcatcher, which originated at off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop, opened on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on April 15, 2012 and won five Tonys. The show ran for 319 regular performances before it transferred to off-Broadway’s New World Stages, where it is currently running.
