Bryce Pinkham to Join Jefferson Mays in New Musical A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder

Broadway vet Bryce Pinkham will join previously announced star Jefferson Mays in the Broadway premiere of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. The new musical comedy will begin performances at the Walter Kerr Theatre on October 22 and open on November 17, directed by Darko Tresnjak.

In A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Monty Navarro (Pinkham) has just received great news: He’s a long-lost member of a noble family and could become the next Earl of Highhurst. There are only eight minor issues, namely the other relatives who precede him in line for the title. Monty sets out to eliminate them one by one, while juggling his mistress, his fiancée and the constant threat of landing behind bars. The eight heirs standing in the way of Monty’s fortune are played by Tony-winner Mays in a performance that was acclaimed at pre-Broadway runs at Hartford Stage and the Old Globe Theatre. Casting for the female roles has not been announced.

The show features a book by Robert L. Freedman, music by Steven Lutvak and lyrics by Freedman and Lutvak. Choreography will be by Peggy Hickey. The design team includes Alexander Dodge (scenic cesign), Linda Cho (costume design), Philip S. Rosenberg (lighting design), Dan Moses Schreier (sound design), Aaron Rhyne (projections sesign), and Charles LaPointe (wigdesign). Orchestrations are by Jonathan Tunick.

Pinkham is currently playing Longaville in the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park production of Love Labour’s Lost. His Broadway credits include Ghost and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, and off-Broadway credits include The Orphans’ Home Cycle.
