The Flawless Four are coming to New York City! Diana DeGarmo, Kate Flannery, Elizabeth Gillies, Joanna “JoJo" Levesque and more will star in a reading of Jawbreaker: The Musical from September 26 through 27. Directed by Gabriel Barre, the new musical features music and lyrics by Jeff Thomson and Jordan Mann, and a book by Darren Stein, who also wrote and directed the original 1999 film.
Based on the ‘90s cult movie, Jawbreaker: The Musical tells the story of “Satan-in-heels” Courtney Shayne (Gillies) and her mean girl minions who play a fatal birthday prank on their best friend. When wallflower Fern Mayo (DeGarmo) catches the flawless three tucking their dead friend back into bed, Courtney promises to make Fern popular in exchange for her silence. In the reading, Flannery will play Principal Sherwood and Levesque will play Julie. The cast also includes Sydni Beaudoin, Taylor Frey, Frankie James Grande, Alexa Green, John Arthur Greene, Veronica Kuehn, Mykal Kilgore, Paul Heesang Miller, Marissa Rosen, LaQuet Sharnell, Allie Schulz and Marty Thomas.
DeGarmo was the runner-up on the third season of TV’s American Idol. The singer-songwriter has since starred in Hairspray and Hair on Broadway, and appeared on The Young and the Restless. Gillies starred in 13 on Broadway. Her film and TV credits include Victorious, Harold and The Clique. After being discovered on TV’s America’s Most Talented Kids, Levesque became the youngest solo artist in the U.S. to have a number-one single, “Leave (Get Out).” As an actress, her film and TV credits include True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet, RV and Aquamarine. Flannery is best known as Meredith Palmer on NBC’s The Office. Her additional film and TV credits include Love or Whatever and The Life & Times of Tim.
