Stage Adaptation of Children's Book The Snail and the Whale Sets International Tour, West End Holiday Run
Rhiannon Wallace in 'The Snail and the Whale'
'The Snail and the Whale' will play the West End during Christmas.

Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler’s beloved children’s book The Snail and the Whale is coming to the stage! A music-filled adaptation will launch a U.K. tour—which will then play America, Canada, Dubai and Bermuda—beginning at Jacksons Lane in London on September 7, 2013.  will then play a Christmas run at the St. James Theatre in the West End from December 10 through January 5, 2014.

The West End run makes the show one of four productions playing in London from Tall Stories, the company behind the hit fellow shows Snow Dragon(at Watermans Brentford), My Brother the Robot (at the Roundhouse) and The Gruffalo (at the Lyric Shaftesbury Avenue).

In The Snail and the Whale, a young girl envisions herself as a tiny snail who hitches a ride on the tail of a humpback whale (her father) as they embark on an amazing journey around the world, encountering sharks, penguins, icebergs, volcanoes and more. Rhiannon Wallace will play the Snail/Daughter, with Patrick Bridgman as Whale/Dad and Ellen Chivers as Daughter/Musician.

The play with music is adapted and directed by Toby Mitchell with creative producer Olivia Jacobs, music by Richard Heacock, design by Isla Shaw, sound design by Shock Productions and lighting by James Whiteside.
