Weekend Poll Top Three: Fans Want Sarah Paulson to Scare Up an Emmy Win for American Horror Story

Although the Emmy Awards are a week away, Broadway.com got an early start on our predictions for this year’s ceremony by asking readers which Broadway veteran most deserved to take home television’s top prize. With more than 30 of this year’s nominees having at least one Broadway credit, the choices were many—but fans have spoken, and three actors rose to the top for their acclaimed performances. So who do YOU most want to win an Emmy this year? Read on for the results!

1. Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) — 15%
The big winner of the weekend is American Horror Story: Asylum star Sarah Paulson, who turned in a haunting performance as journalist-turned-mental patient Lana Winters. The ‘60s reporting crusader finally got her comeuppance at the end—and Paulson's your top pick for Emmy gold. 


2. Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) — 12%
Homeland’s borderline insane antics are grounded by the presence of Saul Berenson, a veteran CIA agent played to perfection by Tony winner Mandy Patinkin (who, it’s worth noting, won an Emmy in 1995 for Chicago Hope). After being snubbed last year, it’s sweet justice for Patinkin to be nominated for his mesmerizing turn on Homeland. Now, it’s time for him to win.


3. Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family) — 9%
Though Modern Family is a perennial Emmy and Golden Globe winner, one of the few actors who hasn’t won a trophy for the show is Jesse Tyler Ferguson as the domestically embattled Mitchell. Maybe this year will cinch a win for the deserving JTF, who should have won years ago (not that we’re biased or anything).
