Tickets are now on sale for the American premiere of the Donmar Warehouse production of Conor McPherson’s The Night Alive. Directed by the playwright, the show will have a limited nine-week engagement at the Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater, beginning previews on November 30 and playing through January 26, 2014. Opening night is set for December 12.
The complete London cast are on board for the transfer and include Tony winner Jim Norton (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, McPherson's The Seafarer), Broadway vet Ciaran Hinds (The Seafarer, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Caoilfhionn Dunne, Brian Gleeson and Michael McElhatton. The show is designed by Soutra Gilmour, with lighting by Neil Austin and sound by Gregory Clarke.
The play follows Tommy (Hinds), a man just getting by and renting a room from his Uncle Maurice (Norton) who encounters a woman (Dunne) who is also struggling through life. Their past won’t let go easily, but together there’s a glimmer of hope they could make something more of their lives.
Atlantic previously presented premiere productions of McPherson's Dublin Carol and Port Authority.
