Broadway Vet Michael Esper & More Join Tales from Red Vienna Off-Broadway

The full cast has been announced for the world premiere of David Grimm’s Tales from Red Vienna. Michael Esper (American Idiot, A Man for All Seasons), Tina Benko, Michael Goldsmith and Lucas Hall are set to join previously announced stars Nina Arianda and Kathleen Chalfant. Directed by Kate Whoriskey, the Manhattan Theatre Club production will begin previews on February 26 and open on March 18 at MTC at New York City Center — Stage I.

Tales From Red Vienna tells the story of Helena (Arianda), a woman who, having lost her husband and financial security in World War I, struggles to maintain her way of life as she becomes a part of an illicit underworld. She manages to separate her secret life from her public persona until she crosses paths with someone who has the power to expose and ruin her.

The production's creative team includes scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Anita Yavich, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, sound design by Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen and fighting direction by Thomas Schall.
