Injured Spider-Man Performer Daniel Curry Files Lawsuit Against Show's Producers and More

Daniel Curry, the Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark actor who was injured during the Broadway production’s August 15, 2013 performance, has filed a lawsuit against the show’s producers, according to The New York Times.

Curry is reportedly suing for unspecified damages for “negligence in the design and operation of a mechanical lift” that he was using when his foot got caught causing “serious and protracted permanent injuries.”

The complaint, which was filed in State Supreme Court in Manhattan on January 28, names the owners of the Foxwoods Theatre, the Spider-Man producers and general manager and several engineering and technology companies as defendants.

A production spokesperson, who had previously stated that “equipment malfunction was not a factor in the incident,” had no further comment.

The troubled musical closed at the Foxwoods Theatre on January 4, 2014 after playing 1,268 Broadway performances. A Las Vegas production is in the works.
