Broadway favorites Stark Sands, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Viola Davis have all boarded upcoming TV pilots. Sands for NBC and Randolph and Davis for ABC.
Two-time Tony nominee Sands (Kinky Boots, Journey’s End), is set to star opposite another Main Stem vet, Ashley Judd, in the NBC pilot Salvation. According to Deadline, the family drama, written by Elizabeth Heldens and directed by Jeffrey Reiner, will feature Sands as Paul Strickland, who is heir apparent to his recently deceased Mega-Church Pastor Dad's empire.
Tony nominee Randolph (Ghost) is to appear in Selfie for ABC/Warner Bros. Deadline reports that she will play a cheerful receptionist in the single-camera comedy written by Emily Kapnek and directed by Julie Anne Robinson.
Two-time Tony winner Davis (Fences, King Hedley II) is to headline the ABC/Shonda Rhimes drama pilot How to Get Away with Murder. According to Variety the series centers on a mysterious law professor and some students who get mixed up in a murder plot.
We obviously wish them all the best, but if the shows don’t get picked up, the Main Stem would love to see their return sooner rather than later!
